I started working on a arid desert type scene in Blender. Here is me messing with camera angles and lighting.

I wanted to try and UV as little as possible so I used Blenders box projection with some masks while blending multiple textures together. Doing this allows this material to auto texture whatever mesh its applied to.

I also used Blenders adaptive subdivision for its micro displacement. This adds loads of detail closer to camera and less triangles further from camera. This speeds up render times greatly!

To do something similar in Unreal is a lot more work. Once again here is the same material but in Unreal. Granted I didn’t spend much time tidying it up.

More to come!
